The problem with "light rail to the beach" is that it will provide...


...almost zero relief to rush hour traffic. Have also seen a study that the Norfolk Tide is considered the biggest waste of money for mass transit in the country. The few times I've ridden it, I've haven't seen anyone asked to show their ticket. The majority of people jump on & ride for free. That probably why it's been such a financial drain.

Frankly I don't want my precious tax dollars going for another Virginia Beach boondoggle. Now if Norfolk extended it to the base, I might actually support it. That would at least provide service to somewhere that actually needs it. (Hopefully the Navy would jump on board to help pay for it...or at the very least pay for sailors/marines to use it.)
